Opportunities To Learn And Lead

At Plains Land Bank, we’re committed to the next generation of ag leaders. Through scholarships and a hands- on summer internship, we provide real-world experience and meaningful support to students passionate about agriculture. Whether it’s financial assistance or professional mentorship, we’re investing in the people who will take the reins of agriculture across Texas.

Investing In Education. Growing Leaders.

Each year, Plains Land Bank awards five $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing a degree in agriculture. It’s our way of recognizing the passion, potential, and commitment of students who are ready to build their future in the ag industry.

These scholarships are an investment in the next generation of producers, agribusiness professionals, and community leaders. Eligible applicants must live in one of the counties we serve and submit a short application, transcript, and an essay. Selected recipients are announced each spring.

Learning By Doing-Summer Internship

Our summer internship is a 12-week, hands-on learning experience designed for students who want to grow their careers in agriculture and rural finance. Interns work alongside leaders across departments, gaining insight into our lending process, customer service, and day-to-day operations.

This internship offers more than just exposure—it’s a chance to develop professional skills, build lasting relationships, and explore what a future in ag finance can look like. Interns take on meaningful projects, set personal goals, and leave with a stronger sense of purpose and direction.

We’re proud to introduce the outstanding students selected for this year’s Plains Land Bank scholarships.

Mason Bogan

Bushland, TX

“My dreams are similar to those I heard my grandpa tell stories about-and now those stories are driving me forward.”

Mason grew up between Colorado and Texas, finding his calling early in the cattle industry. Whether riding in combines, showing lambs, or helping run his family’s steer operation, agriculture has always been in his blood. A recent graduate of Bushland High School, Mason is pursuing a degree in Agribusiness at West Texas A&M University with plans to manage a feedlot and one day own his own cattle operation.

Sydni Chessir

Floydada, TX

“The agricultural industry has given me the tools I need to work well with others, develop my professional skills, and create a support system.”

Sydni grew up immersed in agriculture, spending over a decade raising and showing market lambs—and more recently, goats. A graduate of Floydada Collegiate High School, she is now attending West Texas A&M University, where she is majoring in Animal Science with a PreVeterinary focus.

Gracie Braman

Amarillo, TX

“Agriculture has taught me how to be tough, get back up when life throws you down, and work through any rough patch that comes along.”

Gracie grew up learning the value of hard work alongside her grandfather on the family ranch-feeding cattle, working livestock, and building a lifelong love for the land. A graduate of Canyon High School, she’s attending Clarendon College, majoring in Agricultural Business and Ranch and Feedlot
Operations.

Brooks Myers

Claude, TX

“I’ve never known a time when agriculture wasn’t part of my life—it is definitely the industry that built me.”

Brooks grew up in Claude, Texas, and spent his childhood riding alongside his dad to check cows on their family ranch. He attributes his hard work ethic and determination to his time in the ag industry.

Recently, he graduated as Valedictorian of Claude High School and is attending Texas Tech University this fall, majoring in Animal Science.
